Essay Three: Poetry Analysis

Begin Reading Poetry for your Essay Three Assignment.

You should also be reading The Awakening--don't let it sneak up on you!

Writing Assignments

None this week, but you should start working on your Poetry Exploratory Paper due Monday of Week 12.

Discussion Assignments (2)

(1) By Monday  on the Three Poems Discussion Forum, in each of the three prompts  (for the three poems we studied last week), post your final thoughts as replies to your peers.

(2) By Wednesday, as a reply to one of my five prompts  on the Essay Three Discussion Forum, tell the class which topic you will write on and why you chose it.  Read and respond to the posts of others.  I am hoping that we will have at least three people on each topic, so these groups can stay together through peer reviews, but we'll see how it works out.

Reading Quiz:

Take the Elements of Poetry Quiz located under Course Documents on Blackboard.  This quiz will be available from Monday of this week through Sunday of next week (14 days).

Be ready--one try only.  No reset for any reason, so make sure you have a reliable internet connection when you launch the quiz.

Reading  Ahead

Continue to study for your essay topic. Make notes on the poem(s) you are thinking of using for the essay.  Identify elements in the poems that you will analyze.  Review the chapters (21-20) as needed to get a more in-depth look at the elements you have chosen.

Keep reading The Awakening.  We will begin discussing the novel in week 13.
